May 2022 - Beinn Mheadhonach Wind Farm Public Exhibition
Plans to improve the consented Beinn Mheadhonach Wind Farm have been put on display with an online exhibition event, outlining plans for a five turbine wind farm at Sumardale, near Struan on the Isle of Skye. There is already a consent for a four turbine project at Beinn Mheadhonach and these new proposals, if consented, will replace that consented four turbine proposal.
The proposals have been brought forward by Wind Harvest Limited, a Highland-based developer of wind energy projects, which received consent for the four turbine scheme.
If the new proposals are consented, operation would begin in 2026 once wider electricity network upgrades are completed. The wind farm would be rated at 21MW and is expected to produce about 80GWh of carbon-free electricity each year.
The virtual exhibition went live on Monday 23 May 2022 on www.skyewindfarm.scot and there will be a live online session planned on the website on Friday, 27th May at 6pm - 7pm and click here then, which will take you to a live consultation event to speak with the project team.
