July 2022 - Beinn Mheadhonach Redesign Scoping

Wind Harvest has submitted a Scoping Request to Highland Council on the Beinn Mheadhonach Wind Farm redesigns plans. The company expects to receive a Scoping Opinion later in the summer and it will help inform the developer on the redesign ahead of a planning application submission later in 2022.

The documents can be accessed by going to Highland Council’s Planning Portal and using the reference 22/02995/SCOP

There is already a consent for a four turbine project at Beinn Mheadhonach. As the grid connection to the project is not until 2026 due to wider electricity network upgrades, this gives time for Wind Harvest to maximise the renewable energy output of the project. The Scottish based developer is currently redesigning the project as a five turbine wind farm and, if eventually consented, the five turbine scheme will replace the consented four turbine proposal. The wind farm would be rated at 21MW and is expected to produce about 80GWh of carbon-free electricity each year.

In May 2022, Wind Harvest held an online public exhibition for the redesign plans and the exhibition material remains on the website for reference. Wind Harvest would welcome to hear from interested residents and community groups on the plans before submission later in 2022.
